Caught in the Middle

by Carla Mendoza

I grew up in the Middle class society wherein my neighbors and classmates got relatives who are Overseas Filipino workers. They say that Middle class is not rich but they can afford luxuries such as the latest gadgets, overexpensive iced teas, cars, etc. They want to work abroad because they want to seek greener pastures and to support their families. A typical Middle class household can afford to hire a Household helper so that they can do the laundry, babysit and so on. In a third world country wherein documenting poverty is overrated, there is also a another seemingly interesting story in the society.

On-going documentary project about the Middle class lifestyle in the Philippines.
